A decorative electric table lamp of tall ovoid form, designed in the revival style of a 19th-century oil lamp. The piece features an ornate gilt metal effect cast base and armature with scrolling foliate motifs. The central body is composed of a deep burgundy porcelain? / ceramic? vessel decorated with two transfer-printed pastoral scenes in the Romantic style. One vignette depicts a woman carrying a basket upon her head, and the other shows a woman with children in a landscape, both framed by gilded foliate scrolls. The lighting assembly includes a two-part amber glass shade consisting of an inner cylindrical chimney and a large spherical outer shade with an acid-etched crackle pattern. The lamp is fitted with a gold-toned plastic-insulated cord and a white UK 3-pin plug. A small white circular mark? is visible on the underside of the base but the characters are not legible as a name.
