A mid-20th century Japanese musical jewellery cabinet of multi-tiered pagoda form, featuring a black lacquered finish with polychrome Hiramaki-e style decoration. The exterior is embellished with traditional landscapes depicting Mount Fuji, pagodas, and pine trees, bordered by Raden? mosaic mother-of-pearl shell inlay. The central lid opens to reveal an internal mirror with a three-dimensional diorama featuring a geisha figure on a bridge. The interior is lined with blue corduroy effect textile and contains a central compartment housing a mechanical music box movement behind glass, though the manufacturer is not legible. The cabinet is configured with two hinged side compartments, four small drawers with red bead pulls, and two lower drawers with yellow silk tassels. The piece stands on integrated bracket feet.
