A cast stone? garden planter of two piece construction, featuring a separate bowl and a pedestal base. The bowl is of rounded form with a wide, flared rim and a decorative relief-moulded frieze depicting a continuous rinceau of scrolling acanthus leaves and foliate motifs. The interior of the bowl contains a central drainage hole. The pedestal is designed as a fluted column with a circular, stepped base. It is decorated in relief with a fruiting vine that winds around the shaft, and features a small bird? or animal figure perched near the foot. The piece exhibits a textured, weathered finish with areas of lichen and moss growth consistent with outdoor exposure. There are no maker’s names or marks visible on the exterior or interior surfaces.
