A Victorian folding fruit knife featuring a single sterling silver blade and polished mother-of-pearl scales. The handle is decorated with a silver shield-shaped cartouche and finished with a silver bolster at the pivot end. The silver blade is stamped with a series of hallmarks in rectangular frames: a crown town mark for Sheffield, a lion passant indicating sterling silver, a Gothic lowercase letter b for 1894, and the maker’s initials TM for Thomas Marples. Accompanying the fruit knife is a miniature folding pen knife? charm or watch fob. This smaller item features a single steel blade and metal scales with a textured, hobnail finish. It is fitted with a suspension ring to one end. No hallmarks or maker’s marks are visible on the miniature knife.
