A circular decorative ceramic plaque? or pot lid? featuring a polychrome transfer-printed genre scene in the 18th-century style. The convex ceramic disc depicts a domestic or harvest-related interior with two women in period dress tending to a small child, alongside a seated male figure and a dog. The scene is rendered in a variety of tones including blue, red, and yellow against a neutral background. The reverse of the ceramic element displays an all-over fine crazing to the glaze and lacks any visible maker’s marks or inscriptions. The disc is secured within a deep-profile black-painted wooden frame by four cork spacers and is fitted with a small metal hanging ring to the top edge.
Diameter: 12.7 cm.
