A George III? style mahogany card table of D-shaped form, likely dating to the late 19th or early 20th century. The fold-over top is constructed with a highly figured flame mahogany veneer, featuring satinwood? crossbanding and boxwood? stringing to the edges. The top is designed with protruding square shoulders and is hinged to open into a larger gaming surface. The frieze follows the D-shape of the top and is decorated with further inlaid stringing. The table is supported by four square tapered legs, which include inlaid panels at the top and vertical stringing. The rear legs are mounted on wooden hinges, allowing one to swing outwards to support the open leaf. The legs terminate in simple square feet. No maker marks or labels are visible on the piece.
