A traditional Norwegian solje brooch of openwork circular form, likely silver with partial gilding. The central frame features a complex sunburst or star-like motif composed of filigree scrollwork and stylized foliate elements. The piece is decorated with six suspended concave spoons or dishes, each finished with a gold-wash interior. Three of these spoons support further pendant drops consisting of wirework coils and small teardrop charms. The reverse is fitted with a horizontal pin stem and a C-clasp catch. A central bar on the reverse is stamped with the fineness mark 830S, a small indistinct symbol, and the maker’s name GAUTNE.
