A large-scale photolithograph after a painting by David Shepherd CBE (1931-2017) titled The Ivory is Theirs. The composition depicts a herd of African elephants emerging through a cloud of dust on a parched savannah, with several large bull elephants in the foreground and a group of cows and calves extending into the distance towards hazy mountains. The print is finished in a palette of warm earth tones and soft blues. The bottom right corner of the plate features a printed signature reading ‘David Shepherd’ followed by a stylised bird motif and the date ’90’. Small printed copyright text is present in the lower-left margin but is not clearly legible as a name or publisher. The work is presented within a wide chocolate brown card mount and housed in a dark-stained wooden frame with a narrow gilt inner slip. The reverse of the frame is sealed with brown paper backing.
