A collection of ceramic and metal souvenir and commemorative thimbles. The group predominantly comprises porcelain examples featuring transfer-printed decoration including floral motifs such as lavender and pansies, wildlife such as butterflies and badgers, and various British landmarks and travel destinations. Legible inscriptions on the exteriors include WHITBY ABBEY, CHESTER THE CATHEDRAL, ISLE OF WIGHT, BETWS-Y-COED, VALLEY OF THE ROCKS, STOW, and HOMESTEAD. Commemorative examples are present, featuring text such as MILLENNIUM 2000 and CHRISTMAS GREETINGS. The collection includes a dimpled white metal thimble with an embossed foliate band and a maroon-enameled thimble featuring a gilt metal effect crest. One porcelain piece bears the name and logo for THE NATIONAL TRUST. Many porcelain examples are finished with gilt rims. The porcelain bases feature various printed marks, including one reading HOMESTEAD and another with a circular printed mark that is not clearly legible as a name.
