An antique 9ct yellow gold gate bracelet of six-bar construction. The decorative band is formed from six rows of interconnected curved and straight bar links, providing a flexible structure. The bracelet terminates at each end with a circular ring through which the heart-shaped padlock clasp is secured. The padlock features a functional hinged arm and is fitted with a fine-link safety chain. The reverse of the heart padlock is struck with the impressed initials ‘LC’ within a rectangular cartouche; these initials are not legible as a maker name. The piece is further struck with British hallmarks for 9 carat gold purity, specifically two individual cartouches reading ‘9’ and ‘.375’ respectively. Other hallmarks, including an assay office mark and date letter, are present but are not clearly legible.
