A George VI period campaign medal group consisting of bronzed stars and circular white metal? medals. The six-pointed stars include the 1939-1945 Star and the France and Germany Star, each featuring the royal cypher GRI VI surmounted by a crown within a central circular band. Both stars are secured to a metal wearing bar with original silk? ribbons. The white metal? medals comprise the Defence Medal and the 1939-1945 War Medal, which are currently detached from the mounting bar and missing their respective ribbons. The Defence Medal reverse depicts two lions flanking a crowned oak tree above waves, while the War Medal reverse shows a lion standing over a fallen two-headed dragon. The 1939-1945 Star is inscribed ‘THE 1939-1945 STAR’ around the central medallion. The second star is inscribed ‘THE FRANCE AND GERMANY STAR’. The reverse of the circular Defence Medal is inscribed ‘THE DEFENCE MEDAL’, ‘1939’, and ‘1945’. The War Medal reverse bears the dates ‘1939’ and ‘1945’.
