A Beswick gloss-glazed ceramic figurine from the Pig Promenade series, depicting the anthropomorphic character James. The figure is modelled standing upright on a textured green grassy base, dressed in a dark maroon-coloured waistcoat and a black bow tie. The pig is posed as a musician holding a metal wire triangle with a separate wire beater. The underside of the base features a printed black factory mark consisting of the word BESWICK in a curved arrangement above a scrolled cartouche containing a capital B, above the word ENGLAND. Below this mark is the alphanumeric code PP 7 and the name JAMES. Hand-painted decorator marks in black ink are present on the unglazed foot rim, appearing as a 9 and a circular mark resembling a 0 or D.
