A brass and copper? lidded jar of cylindrical form, constructed in the Arts and Crafts? style. The brass body is decorated with four applied copper quatrefoil plates and raised bosses. The lid features a central circular copper medallion flanked by four scrolling foliate motifs and further raised bosses. The central medallion is embossed with a heraldic crest? depicting a shield charged with a patriarchal cross, surmounted by a crown. The markings on the lower part of the shield are not legible. The construction exhibits hand-applied decorative elements and a heavy natural patina throughout.
