A mid-20th-century colour print depicting the Mater Dolorosa? or Sorrowful Mother. The Madonna is shown in a three-quarter profile with a bowed head, draped in a dark teal veil over a red inner garment. A soft, radiating yellow halo surrounds the head against a pale greenish-blue background. The composition is housed in an ornate gilt metal effect frame featuring a deep, stepped profile and foliate-patterned outer moulding, set behind a cream mat with a gold-toned inner bevel. The work is signed ‘Seibel’ in the lower left corner in a black cursive script.
