A pair of Zambian hardwood? wall plaques, hand-carved in high relief with pierced decorative elements. One panel depicts a male hunter in a dynamic crouched pose, holding a long spear and wearing a dark, patterned loincloth against a black-stained background. The second panel portrays a female figure in profile carrying a vessel upon her head, positioned beneath a stylized tree branch. Both figures are rendered with textured details to the hair and garments, complemented by selective dark staining for contrast. The reverse of each plaque bears pencil inscriptions; one reads ZAMBIA COMPOUND, KAWAMA PO BOX 34?, and KAPANZA PO, with a further partially legible line possibly reading LUOWO?. The second plaque bears similar inscriptions identifying the Zambia Compound in Kawama.
