A late Victorian mechanical turn top desk call bell of ornate design. The piece features a decorative, openwork cast ferrous metal base with scrolled foliate motifs and pierced detailing. The central bell dome is constructed from a darkly patinated metal? with a mottled finish and is bisected by a narrow horizontal aperture. The striking mechanism is topped with a brass plunger assembly featuring a knurled neck and a turned brass finial knob. The strike is operated by rotating or depressing the plunger. No manufacturer names, marks, or patent numbers are legible on the visible exterior surfaces.
