A sterling silver reliquary necklace featuring a crucifix pendant suspended from a rolo link chain. The crucifix is constructed as a locket, with a threaded screw-top mechanism at the apex which allows the front section to hinge open from the base, revealing a hollowed interior compartment. The front face of the cross is decorated with a black inlaid ground and a gilt metal effect corpus of Christ. A circular signature tag attached to the chain is impressed with PATENT and Ag 925 above a script signature reading Lange? and AUSTRIA to the lower edge. An additional small, illegible symbol is present to the right of the silver fineness mark.
