The instrument is constructed with a black-painted cast iron frame featuring a central oval aperture and a lever-operated mechanism. It is equipped with two brass pans: one deep scoop-form pan and one shallow circular plate. The set includes six graduated brass weights marked with Imperial measurements. The marks designate weights of 1LB, 8 OZ, 4 OZ, 2 OZ, 1 OZ, and 1/2 OZ.
