This lot comprises two ceramic tobacco jars or humidors, each modelled in the form of a Native American chieftain’s head wearing a traditional feathered headdress. Both items are of two-part construction, with the upper section of the headdress serving as a removable lid. The larger jar features a figure with a pale, bisque-finished face and dark hair, adorned with a white beaded headband containing a central purple cabochon above a blue base with vertical purple stripes. The smaller jar is decorated with more vibrant polychrome enamels, depicting a figure with a reddish-brown complexion and a multi-coloured feathered headdress in shades of blue, red, yellow, and white, further accented by a yellow beaded necklace. The jars are crafted from earthenware with a combination of glazed and unglazed surfaces. No maker’s marks, factory stamps, or model numbers are visible on either piece.
