An Otagiri Japan hand-painted glazed ceramic musical figurine depicting a classic festive scene of Santa Claus sleeping in a green high-back armchair while Mrs. Claus leans over the back holding a sprig of mistletoe. The figurine is mounted upon a circular wooden base which contains a wind-up musical mechanism. The underside of the base retains two original labels: a gold foil sticker marked HAND PAINTED, OTAGIRI, JAPAN and a rectangular paper label for Gibson Greetings, Inc. indicating the tune played is We Wish You a Merry Christmas.
