A mid-20th-century brass miniature lantern clock by the British manufacturer Smiths. Designed in the traditional 17th-century style, the clock features a brass case with a domed bell top, a central finial, and four turned corner finials. The case is decorated with pierced foliate frets and sits on four turned feet. The circular brass dial has an engraved foliate centre and a chapter ring with Roman numerals and arrow markers. The black hour and minute hands are ornately shaped. The dial is inscribed Smiths 8 Day to the left of the centre and Made in Great Britain to the right. The clock is powered by a mechanical 8-day spring-driven movement and is accompanied by a separate brass winding key.
