A late 19th or early 20th-century patinated bronzed tripod incense burner, known as a koro. The vessel features a globular body supported by three integral bun-shaped feet. The upper portion is decorated with a wide, reticulated shoulder band featuring intricate openwork scrolling foliage and pendant drop motifs extending down the body. The piece is fitted with two fixed side loops carrying loose ring handles. The removable lid is similarly decorated with pierced foliate work and a small central finial. The item is cast from bronze with a dark, uniform chocolate-brown patina. The base shows concentric circular marks consistent with lathe-finishing or the casting process. The openwork elements are cast and finished with detail. Examination reveals no alphanumeric characters, symbols, or reign marks.
