A 20th-century rectangular wooden box featuring a black lacquer finish with hand-painted Chinoiserie decoration. The lid is ornamented with a butterfly, red flowering branches with gold highlights, and a vase motif, set against a broad curved gold-effect band on the right side. Three hand-painted characters are visible in the lower left corner, transcribing as 古梅子 (Gu Mei Zi). The box is constructed with metal hinges and a plain interior. Contained within is an assortment of mid-20th-century vintage trade and cigarette cards. The collection includes series such as Brooke Bond Tea Flags and Emblems of the World, various Brooke Bond nautical and nature series, and Horniman’s Tea Small Wonders. Subjects depicted across the cards include historical figures, maritime scenes, and wildlife.
