An Edwardian? mahogany? and marquetry side chair set of Sheraton revival style. Each chair is constructed with a shaped top rail featuring a central inlaid shell motif within a boxwood? border. The back design comprises a central splat decorated with a classical urn, scrolling foliate marquetry, and husk swags in shaded woods, flanked by four slender vertical rails. The stuffed-over seats are currently upholstered in a cream-ground floral patterned fabric with a braided trim to the edges. The mahogany? frames are raised on square tapering legs with inlaid boxwood? stringing, terminating in small spade feet. The construction and decorative style suggests an early 20th century? date of manufacture.
