A pair of side chairs? of high-backed form, constructed from dark-stained oak in the Flemish Revival style. Each chair features a central upholstered back panel set within a frame of hand-carved pierced scrollwork, surmounted by a shell motif at the base of the splat. The backrests are flanked by barley-twist uprights terminating in turned finials. The square seats and back panels are upholstered in a beige and gold-toned floral damask fabric, which is a later addition, finished with a corded trim. The chairs are supported on barley-twist front legs joined by a matching H-stretcher, featuring a carved front rail with scrolling foliage decoration. The lot is presented in as found condition.
