A bisque-fired ceramic? tobacco jar? of character form, modelled as a head with dark brown skin tones and a subtle smile, wearing a multi-coloured turban-style headwrap. The vessel features hand-painted decoration with bands of green, yellow, and purple paint to the turban. The piece is constructed in two parts, with the top of the headwrap serving as a removable lid. The interior of the jar and the underside of the lid are finished in a white glaze, while the exterior has a matte, unglazed finish typical of bisque pottery. No maker’s marks, factory stamps, or signatures are legible on the base or lid.
