An antique tin-plated iron? miner’s oil wick cap lamp of a type commonly known as a “frog” or “sunshine” lamp, dating to the late 19th or early 20th century. The lamp is constructed with a tapered cylindrical reservoir featuring soldered seams and a hinged circular lid. A protruding spout with brass-coloured reinforcement at the join is fitted with a fibrous textile wick. To the upper section, a large decorative scrolled wire hook is attached for suspension or mounting on headgear. The side of the body bears an applied rectangular copper nameplate embossed with the name A.FISHER.
