Buyer's Premium:

A collection of two vesta cases of rectangular form. The first is a sterling silver vesta case featuring hand-engraved foliate scrollwork surrounding a central unengraved circular cartouche. It is designed with a hinged lid, suspension loop, and a serrated striking surface to the base. Hallmarks are located on the side rim of the body including the maker’s mark R.J for John Rose, the lion passant indicating sterling silver, the anchor symbol for the Birmingham Assay Office, and the lowercase date letter e corresponding to the year 1904. The second item is a rectangular vesta case with a lobed or cushion-shaped body, decorated with a geometric engraved border and scrolling designs around a central circular cartouche. It features a hinged lid, suspension loop, and a serrated striker on the base. This item appears to be silver-plated, with the underlying base metal visible in areas of surface wear.
