An Art Nouveau firescreen, dating to the late 19th or early 20th century. The object consists of a rectangular landscape-oriented brass panel mounted within a tubular brass frame. The panel features repousse decoration against a hand-hammered martele background, depicting stylised organic whiplash motifs and two tulip-like blossoms to the left side. The panel is held by a frame that incorporates an ornate scrolled carrying handle and splayed legs. The construction and aesthetic are typical of British Art Nouveau metalwork from the turn of the century. No maker’s marks or signatures are visible on the panel or frame.
