The globe is mounted within a gimbal-style metal frame consisting of a graduated meridian ring and a wider horizon ring. The frame is supported by a tripod stand with three turned legs, with a small circular compass inset at the centre of the base. The meridian and horizon rings are engraved with degree scales of 0-90 and 0-360 respectively. Geographic labels across the surface include North Pacific Ocean, Canada, North America, Alaska, Arctic Ocean, Kuril Is., Japan, Tokyo, and Northern Mariana Is. (U.S.).
