A hand-carved folding wall shelf or bracket, constructed from a dark-stained hardwood. The backplate features intricate pierced openwork carving with a central grapevine motif, comprising large textured leaves and clusters of grapes. The design is enclosed within a scrolled frame and finished with a serrated dog-tooth border. The semi-circular shelf is attached to the backplate via a metal piano hinge, allowing the item to fold flat for storage. No maker’s marks or inscriptions are visible. A faint circular pressure mark is present on the upper surface of the shelf, likely from a previously displayed object.
Height: 35.5 cm.
