A Metzler and Ortloff polychrome glazed porcelain figurine, model number 7213, manufactured in Ilmenau, Thuringia, Germany. The piece depicts a romantic encounter between a young chimney sweep and a girl. The male figure is attired in traditional black work clothes and a top hat, carrying a black ladder over his shoulder as he leans in to kiss the girl. The girl is portrayed wearing a pale blue apron with a wooden spoon tucked into the side pocket and a grey headscarf decorated with white polka dots. Both figures are set upon an oval, off-white, slightly domed base. The underside features the factory mark in green, consisting of a crown above a circular device containing stylized letters, accompanied by the word GERMANY. The model number 7213 is incised into the porcelain. A small circular vent hole is present on the base.
