A large silver commemorative medal struck for the United States Bicentennial. The obverse features the facing profile portraits of King George III and George Washington, inscribed GEORGE THE THIRD and WASHINGTON within a beaded border. The reverse depicts an allegorical scene with a winged figure of Victory or Liberty placing a laurel wreath on a reclining soldier amongst military trophies and flags. The reverse is inscribed INDEPENDENCE, LIBERTY, and 1776-1976. The piece is struck in silver.
