A Victorian-era bar brooch featuring a central star-shaped foliate motif set upon a tapered bar. The front surface is decorated with intricate hand-engraved scrollwork, foliate patterns, and fine stippling. The item is constructed from a rose-tone metal on the face, with a yellow-tone metal reverse, which is characteristic of gold-fronted or gold-cased jewellery from the late 19th century. A single colourless faceted stone is centrally set within the star motif. The stone features a cut with a small table and a visible culet, consistent with an Old Mine or Old European cut. The reverse of the brooch is fitted with a hinged pin and a traditional C-clasp mechanism. There are no visible hallmarks or maker’s marks on the piece.
