A mid-20th century patriotic brooch in the form of a shield surmounted by a royal crown, featuring the Norwegian Coat of Arms. The central motif depicts a rampant lion holding a long-handled axe, set against a translucent red guilloché enamel ground. The shield is bordered by concentric bands of white and dark blue vitreous enamel, reflecting the colours of the Norwegian national flag. The item is constructed from silver-toned white metal, and the reverse is fitted with a vertical pin and C-clasp. Two oval attachment plates are visible on the reverse, bearing small marks that are not clearly legible in the provided images. Similar examples are frequently attributed to the Norwegian silversmith David-Andersen and are often found marked 925S. Such badges were commonly worn by Norwegian forces, resistance members, or exiles during the Second World War to demonstrate national allegiance.
