Two Russian religious items from the late 19th or early 20th century. The first is a cast bronze eight-pointed Orthodox crucifix featuring the Crucifixion of Christ in relief. It includes traditional iconography such as the Titulus Crucis at the top, mourning angels on the upper crossbar, and the skull of Adam within the base of the cross representing Golgotha. The reverse has a small metal hanging bracket attached. The second item is a Kazan Mother of God icon consisting of a painted wood panel partially covered by an ornate brass or copper alloy repoussé oklad (riza). The oklad features a foliate scroll border and depicts the robes and haloes of the Virgin and Christ Child, leaving only the painted faces visible. Both pieces feature Cyrillic inscriptions traditional to Russian religious art.
