A collection of British military industrial tools designed for pilferage detection through the crimping of lead or metal security seals onto equipment. Each unit is constructed from heavy-duty polished metal with a lever-action mechanism and features a brown leather retaining strap. The handle assemblies are cast with the markings SEALSFAST LTD, the date 1952, a broad arrow pheon mark, and the stores reference 1B/4538. Several units are contained within their original cardboard delivery boxes bearing paper labels for the manufacturer, Sealsfast Ltd., 39, St. James’s Place, London, S.W.1. These labels include the description 1 PUNCH, SEAL and reference contract 6/Hand Tools/7011/CB.42(D)3. Some boxes feature handwritten notations 16 MU/20 and 16 MU/25, referring to No. 16 Maintenance Unit at RAF Stafford. The lot includes original internal packing paper and supplementary ephemera such as a Royal Air Force Specimen Item card and an Air Ministry despatch tag.
