A pair of Italian biscuit porcelain figurines by Cesare Villari, designed in the classical Capodimonte style. One figure depicts a semi-clad seated putto interacting with a swan or goose while holding a green leaf. The second figure shows a standing putto engaged in manual work, using a bow saw to cut through a tree stump decorated with small polychrome flowers. Both figures are mounted on elaborate, footed gilt-effect scroll bases. The figurines are crafted from matte bisque porcelain with hand-painted details to the faces and flora. Each piece is marked to the porcelain base with the incised signature Porcellana C. Villari and features an underglaze blue crown over N mark. Incised characters 8A2 are also present on the bases.
