A double-section tray of East Asian origin, likely Chinese or Japanese, constructed from two split segments of bamboo culm joined longitudinally to form twin parallel troughs. The underside is reinforced with two transversal wooden cross-braces secured with metal wire staples. The tray terminates in wooden end panels, with the handles at each end featuring integrated carved openwork grip bars. The exterior faces of these end panels are decorated with incised geometric line carvings. The bamboo and wood surfaces exhibit a warm, deep reddish-brown patinated finish. This vessel was likely designed for use as a scholar’s brush tray or a sencha tea tray. No maker’s marks, signatures, or inscriptions are visible on the object.
