A miniature two-drawer chest in the Florentine style, constructed from wood with a polychrome and gilt finish. The drawer fronts feature red panels decorated with white floral motifs and scalloped borders, held within a gilded frame and raised on four cabriole legs. The top and side panels are embellished with a green and gold foliate quatrefoil motif set against a red ground. The reverse is finished with bronze-coloured paint and displays faint incised scrolling. No maker’s marks or signatures are present. This type of miniature commode is commonly utilised as a jewellery box.
