A vintage Comet brand toy sewing machine manufactured by E.M. Gheysens Ltd (EMG) in England. The appliance features a hand-cranked mechanism with a cream-coloured enamel body mounted on a red-painted pressed tinplate base. The base is embellished with gold-toned lithographed scrollwork designs. The unit includes a chrome-finished flywheel with a black handle and a polished metal needle plate. A prominent oval decal on the body displays a shooting star graphic alongside the Comet brand name in stylized script, with inner border text reading MADE IN ENGLAND and = E.M.G =. This lot is accompanied by its original cardboard box, which features a printed illustration of two girls using the machines, and two original paper instruction leaflets printed in English and Spanish. A spool of green thread is currently fitted to the machine.
