An English stained hardwood four-legged stool featuring a circular solid wood seat with a shallow moulded edge. The piece is supported by four heavily turned bobbin-style legs, which are joined by a matching turned X-frame cross stretcher. The stool is finished in a dark brown stain. The legs are socketed into the underside of the seat, and the stretchers are joined using mortise and tenon or dowel joints. The underside of the seat exhibits two small circular indentations from the manufacturing process. No maker marks, stamps, or labels are visible.
