A mid-20th-century decorative model of a three-masted square-rigged sailing ship. The vessel is constructed primarily from brass, featuring sails fabricated from sheet brass shaped to simulate being filled by wind. The hull and masts are formed from brass rods and sheet metal, with intricate wire rigging throughout. The ship is mounted via two cylindrical brass supports onto a rectangular wooden plinth finished in a dark red lacquer. The style is characteristic of nautical-themed brassware popular in the 1950s through to the 1970s, resembling work by designers such as Curtis Jere. There are no visible maker marks or signatures on the metalwork or base. Multiple white adhesive inventory labels are present on the sails, and a partial label with a UK telephone number (01302 area code) is attached to the edge of the base.
