A mid-20th-century lead crystal ship’s decanter featuring a wide, weighted base designed for stability. The body is decorated with various hand-cut patterns, including a band of large diamond and hobnail cutting around the base, a secondary band of fine diamond cutting at the shoulder, and vertical fluting leading up the neck. The decanter is fitted with its original spherical glass stopper, which features matching star and cross-cut motifs. The neck is mounted with a sterling silver collar. Hallmarks on the silver collar include the lion passant for sterling silver, the leopard’s head for the London Assay Office, a lowercase g for the year 1962, and the maker’s mark DS for David Shaw Silverware Ltd.
