An antique French folding pocket knife manufactured by Batisse of Thiers, France, in the Mediterranean or Navaja style. The single carbon steel blade features a clip point with a distinctive thumb rest and carries the maker’s mark consisting of a chamois mountain goat logo above the name BATISSE. The ornate handle is fashioned with decorative brass bolsters and a scalloped pommel. The scales are made from two materials: an off-white section, possibly bone or ivory, with an incised floral pattern, and a dark translucent section, likely horn, inlaid with a nickel silver shield. The butt is finished with three brass ring spacers and a metal lanyard ring.
