A Victorian single-blade folding fruit knife featuring a sterling silver blade and iridescent mother-of-pearl handle scales. The blade is struck with a comprehensive set of five hallmarks for the Birmingham assay office. These marks include the maker’s mark H.A in a quatrefoil for Henry Atkin (Atkin Brothers), the anchor for Birmingham, the lion passant for sterling silver, the lowercase date letter g for 1881, and the Queen Victoria duty mark. The handle is constructed with two polished mother-of-pearl scales pinned to the frame, featuring a silver bolster at the hinge. An inset rectangular silver nameplate on the handle is professionally engraved in cursive script with the name Rose Coulthard. The blade features a nail nick for ease of opening.
