Another Great Auction
A collection of decorative cut crystal and glassware. The group features a lead crystal spirit service in a ruby-to-clear flash technique, attributed to the Hofbauer Byrdes collection. This service comprises a square-bodied decanter with a matching facet-cut stopper and several matching tumblers. The decoration consists of circular ruby-coloured medallions featuring etched depictions of birds amongst foliage, surrounded by deep diamond, cross-hatch, and star-cut patterns. Included in the collection is a large, tapered specimen vase decorated with a traditional all-over diamond-cut pattern. The lot also contains an assortment of stemware, including wine or sherry glasses, one of which features a cut-glass bowl with a faceted stem and a gold-toned metal collar. Additional decorative items include a cut-glass hand bell with a gold-toned handle and a small, faceted clear glass sphere. No maker’s marks, signatures, or acid-etched stamps are visible on the items.
