Another Great Auction
An industrial trade glass sample box produced by Pilkington Brothers Limited of St. Helens, Lancashire. The rectangular wooden box is finished in a cream-coloured paint with a black oval label printed on the lid. The text on the label reads PILKINGTON BROTHERS LIMITED and ST. HELENS LANCASHIRE. To the right of the text is a circular logo featuring a central cross with the letters P and B within its arms, surrounded by the words BRITISH GLASS. A small white rectangular sticker marked 4742 is located on the lower left of the lid. The interior is painted black and contains an assortment of architectural glass samples. These samples include various thicknesses and types such as clear, tinted, wired safety glass, and several textured or obscured patterns including those marked as ROUGH CAST and POLISHED PLATE. The collection is housed within corrugated cardboard dividers. The box features two brass-toned hinges and a metal hook-and-eye clasp.
