A collection of Masonic regalia and personal ephemera associated with the Don Valley Chapter, No. 3890, Doncaster, belonging to Companion J. Bestall. The ensemble comprises a dark brown carrying case featuring silver-tone metal initials J. B. to the lid and a wooden box with a decorative lithograph of flowers and butterflies to the interior lid. The regalia includes Royal Arch aprons and a matching sash, each designed with crimson and purple diamond patterns and gold-tone Triple Tau emblems. Also included are pairs of white cotton dress gloves. Two boxed enamel and gilt-metal steward’s jewels are present; one for the Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution dated 1963 and one for the Royal Masonic Institution for Girls dated 1964. One box features partial manufacturer marks for a firm located at Warwick Street, Regent Street, London. Accompanying ephemera includes a typed letter on Don Valley Chapter headed stationery dated 13th July 1964, a subscription receipt signed by William T. Thorne, and a postmarked envelope addressed to J. Bestall, Esq. in Doncaster.
