This set of twenty-five pieces of Royal Doulton fine bone china is decorated in the Madrigal pattern, pattern number H. 5014. The service features polychrome transfer-printed floral sprays in shades of orange, blue, and green, finished with gilded rims and highlights to the handles and finials. The pieces possess a mid-20th-century silhouette, characterised by stepped bases and angular handles. The collection includes a lidded coffee pot, a lidded teapot, a lidded sugar bowl, three creamers, six teacups, and thirteen saucers or small plates. The base of the pieces bears a green transfer-printed maker’s mark featuring a lion rampant atop a crown above a circular mark containing Royal Doulton England, with the pattern name Madrigal and the number H. 5014 printed below. The mark also includes the text English Fine Bone China and Copyright Doulton & Co Limited.
